Overview

“Extension to Cellular” (EC500) is a new feature available in Endicott’s phone system that allows you to use a registered cell phone as an “extension” of your Endicott desk phone while traveling or working remotely. When EC500 is enabled, incoming phone calls will ring on both your desk phone and your registered cell phone simultaneously, and any missed calls will be sent to your Endicott voicemail box. By dialing into a special “calling bridge”, EC500 will also allow your registered cell phone to place outbound calls from your Endicott extension.

EC500 Setup and Best Practices

In order to use the EC500 feature with your extension, Campus Technology will need to add a “registered” cell phone number to your account and configure an EC500 button on your phone. To request this functionality, please open a new Freshservice ticket using this link: https://endicott.freshservice.com/support/tickets/new

Below are a few things to be mindful of when using EC500:

  • Due to carrier limitations, the EC500 feature is not able to pass Caller ID names for incoming phone calls. Any incoming calls will only display the calling party’s number. Known callers should be added to the Contacts list on your registered cellular device.

  • Please refrain from using the “Ignore” or “Dismiss” function when receiving an incoming EC500 call, as doing so will cause your cell phone’s voicemail box to pick up the call before it can reach the Endicott voicemail system. You may still “silence” incoming calls or place your phone on “Do Not Disturb” without impacting the EC500 call flow.

Enabling/Disabling EC500 from Your Desk Phone

Once EC500 has been enabled for your Endicott phone extension, Campus Technology will add an “EC500 Enable” button on the home screen of your Avaya desk phone (see image below).

EC500 can be enabled/disabled by pressing this button – EC500 will be disabled by default, and the button will be red. When EC500 is enabled, the button will be green.

Enabling/Disabling EC500 Remotely

Once EC500 has been enabled on your Endicott phone extension, you can easily manage your EC500 settings by dialing into special “feature access” lines from your registered cell phone. If you plan to manage EC500 from your mobile device on a regular basis, you can add these numbers to your cell phone contacts:

  • To enable EC500 on your extension, dial (978) 998-7796 from your registered cell phone. After a few seconds, the call will end and the feature will be enabled.

  • To disable EC500 on your extension, dial (978) 998-7797 from your registered cell phone. After a few seconds, the call will end and the feature will be disabled.

EC500 Call Management

Incoming EC500 calls can be answered on your cell phone like a normal phone call. Please be mindful that you will be unable to differentiate incoming EC500 calls from normal cellular calls while the feature is enabled. Unless the caller's number has been added to your cell phone’s contact list, all you will see is the 10-digit calling party number.

Please disable this feature when you would not like to receive Endicott calls on your cell phone.

Handing Off a Call from EC500 to Your Desk Phone

Placing An Outbound Call Using EC500

To place an outbound EC500 call using your extension, dial (978) 998-7795 from your registered cell phone. Once the call connects, you will immediately hear a dial tone to place an outbound call from your extension. Dial “91 + the 10-digit phone number” – after a brief pause, you will hear your outbound call begin to ring.

Outbound calls will display your 10-digit Endicott DID number
