This guide will address how to operate standard classroom AV systems that have touch screen control panels. These instructions apply to ALL classroom spaces that use this style of control panel.

This document will NOT address classrooms that have pushbutton control panels. That guide can be found using the link below:

Once the system is fully turned on, the touch panel will display the Main Control Page.

Main Control Page

Source Select

Across the top of the page you will see the Input Bus that lists all available input ports in the system.

  • PC - This source is used for the dedicated classroom computer connected to the teaching station.
  • HDMI - This cable can be found in the cubby built into the top of the teaching station.
  • USB-C - This cable can also be found in the cubby built into the top of the teaching station.

Volume Control

Along the left side of the Main Control Page is the Volume Bus. The Up and Down arrows will raise and lower the program audio coming from the input source to the classroom speakers. When Audio Mute is engaged, any audio coming out of the classroom speakers will be silenced.

Projector and Camera Control

Along the right side of the Main Control Page is the Control Bus. This is where you will find projector controls and PTZ camera controls.

Control Bus

  • Video Mute - When the Video Mute is engaged: Only video going to the room's main display will be stopped. Screen sharing via Zoom will still be visible to attendees of the meeting and/or the recording. The Video Mute does not impact room audio, Webcam content or the USB microphone in any way. The video mute for all classrooms is set with a 5 minute timer that will automatically turn the mute off 5 minutes after the last time the control panel was touched. This is because when the video mute is engaged, it is sometimes difficult to tell if the projector is on or off. In past years, the projector mutes were engaged and often forgotten about.
  • Camera - This button will display controls for the classroom PTZ camera.
    • Numbered Buttons - The 1,2,3 buttons along the left side of the screen are pre-set camera positions. Pressing these will make the camera automatically adjust to those positions.
    • Arrow Buttons - The arrow buttons will allow you to manually adjust the camera to whichever position you want.
    • Plus/Minus Buttons - These buttons will allow you to increase or decrease how zoomed in the camera is.

Camera Control Screen

  •  Settings - This will display a number of commands that can be sent to the projector.
    • Resend On CMD will tell the projector to turn on if it went to sleep.
    • Resend Off CMD will tell the projector to turn itself off, but the teaching station will remain on.
    • Resend Source CMD will tell the projector what input source is selected.

Turning Off the System

In the bottom right of the Main Control Page is the Turn off button. Pressing this will display a prompt on-screen to confirm that you want to turn off the system. Once confirmed, the classroom projector will turn off. The dedicated classroom computer connected to the teaching station will remain On. The computer will automatically shut off after it detects no activity for about 15 minutes.
