Lower Callahan Center : User Guide
This is a general usage guide for the Lower Callahan Center (aka LoCal). The AV system includes the first floor sound system, the 2x2 video wall as well as 3 signage TVs around the space. System inputs include 3 unique digital signage inputs, the booth desktop computer, an HDMI input port on the wall outside of the booth, 4 wireless microphone kits, and a RockBot background music player. Any computer input can be sent to any display at any point but there are pre-set standard destinations for the content when the system is turned on. To operate the system, you will need to gain access to the Student Activities Booth. The AV system control panel is found on the front of the black equipment rack next to the booth's sliding window.
The AV system is programmed to operate on a timer to turn the system on and off based on the hours of operation of the Student Center while students are on campus. The system will turn itself on at 8:30am and off at 11:30pm. The system can be turned back on overnight or turned off mid-day if the need exists.
Press and release anywhere on the touch screen to start the system activation.
While the AV system turns on, you will be unable to control any part of the system. When You see the Main Control Screen (image below), the system is ready for use.
Main Control Menu
The main control screen
Within the Main Control Screen, you will see a number of buttons.
Displays - Calls up the Display Control menu (addressed in greater detail below)
PC - Pressing this button will mute the RockBot music player and send whatever audio that is being played on the Booth PC to the main PA system. Video from the Booth PC will be sent to the video wall.
HDMI - Pressing this button will mute the RockBot music player and send whatever audio that is being played on the front wall HDMI port to the main PA system. Video from the Front wall HDMI port will be sent to the video wall.
Video Routing - Calls up the Video Routing menu (addressed in greater detail below)
Audio Settings - Calls up the Audio Settings menu (addressed in greater detail below)
Speech Volume - Addressed in greater detail below
Main Volume - Addressed in greater detail below
Help - Calls up the system Help Menu that shows you the phone number to AV support
Turn Off - Calls up the system shutdown confirmation page. This button is the first of 2 steps to turn the AV system off
Main Volume Adjustments

On the left side of the control panel, you will find the Speech Volume Master Volume Control. This will adjust all wireless microphones at the same rate. Adjustments can be made while muted.
On the right side of the control panel, you will fin the Main Volume control, this adjusts the volume of computer content going through the PA system. Adjustments can be made while muted.
Display Settings Menu
Display Settings Menu
The Display Settings Menu allows you to turn individual displays on and off depending on the needs of the space. Source Reset has the AV controls tell the displays to reset to the correct input port at the display itself. This is in case someone plugs in a temporary input device and it is time to put the display back into normal operation.
Video Routing
Video Routing Menu
This menu allows for selecting any system input and sending it to any of the system output displays. NOTE : The only display that links to the room's speakers is the Video Wall.
To operate this menu, Select the desired INPUT and then select the OUTPUT. You can press multiple OUTPUTS from a single INPUT.
When the system turns off, the digital signage ports will return to their normal content settings.
Audio Settings

This menu allows you to adjust (including un/mute of the RockBot Music Volume as well as adjusting individual wireless microphone volumes.
Mic Volume

The Mc Volume menu allows for individual microphones to be un/muted as well as individual volume control. If you want to adjust all mics at the same time, you the Speech volume adjustment on the left side of the control panel. This system does NOT have a EQ option.
Music Volume

The Music Volume Menu allows for adjusting the playback volume of the RockBot music player
Shutdown Confirmation

This menu is shown when the Turn Off button is pressed on the Main Control Menu. If the Turn Off button was pressed in error, press the Cancel Button. If you do want to turn the system off, press Power Down. No further action is required.
