Okta Verify as MFA for Microsoft 365
Endicott College is implementing Okta multifactor authentication (MFA) with our Microsoft 365 environment. All Endicott Faculty/Staff and Student accounts with access to Endicott College data will be required to use MFA as a second layer of security to log into their MS 365 account.
How to set up MFA for Microsoft Office 365:
Note: You will need a computer with internet access in addition to your phone with the Okta Verify app installed.
1. On your Computer - Log into your Microsoft 365 account here https://myaccount.microsoft.com/
2. In the left hand navigation panel, select “Security Info”

3. Select “Add sign-in method”

4. Select Authenticator app, and click the “Add” button

5. In the Microsoft Authenticator pop-up, click “I want to use a different authenticator app”

6. Click Next to show the QR code on the computer screen, and proceed to step 7 to open Okta for scanning

7. On your phone - open the Okta Verify phone application that we use for MFA and tap the + sign at the top right corner to add a new account

8. On your Phone - Choose “Organization”

9. On your Phone - When prompted to Add account from another device, tap “Skip”

10. On your Phone - Tap “Yes, Ready to Scan”

11. With your Phone - Scan the code you see on the screen of your computer using the Okta Verify app on your phone, after the code is scanned, click done.
12. On your Computer - Click “Next” in the prompt after you have scanned the code.

13. On your Computer - Enter the 6 digit code that the Okta Verify application displays in the Okta Verify app (on your phone) under “Microsoft” into the webpage, and click “Next”
(Below – Okta App on phone)

(Below – Prompt on computer screen for 6 digit code)

14. You should see a confirmation on the webpage that the app was successfully registered, and under “sign in methods, you should see “Authenticator app” listed

Future logins to Microsoft 365 on any new devices will require this six-digit code from the Okta Verify app to authenticate, you can click on “Yes” when prompted to “Stay signed in” on trusted devices (never on a public device). You have completed the MFA setup.
