Why was I automatically enrolled in the Endicott College health insurance plan?
Massachusetts Law requires that all students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours must have health insurance while attending Endicott College. Undergraduate students are automatically enrolled and billed in the Student Health Insurance Plan offered through Endicott College if they are registered for nine or more credits. In compliance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts program of Universal Health Care, all international students are required to enroll in a qualified health insurance plan sponsored by the College. This mandatory health insurance charge can only be removed from the invoice by completing the on-line waiver process. If the student is currently enrolled in a health insurance plan with comparable coverage, they may waive the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) online. Students who do not complete the waiver process by the end of the first week of class will be automatically enrolled. Visit University Health Plans to waive coverage for the policy year.
Before waiving make sure to compare the cost, coverage, and benefits of the SHIP to your existing plan. Most students with out-of-state managed care plans or HMOs are not eligible to waive coverage as those types of plans do not provide students with access to non-emergent care in the Boston area.
