Casting Screen Contents to Classroom Display Using AirServer
Campus Technology has installed AirServer on all Teaching Station (Classroom Desktop) computers and A/V laptops to facilitate wireless screen sharing in Endicott classrooms. This program allows devices connected to Endicott's internal Wi-Fi networks to share their screens on the teaching computer wirelessly. This document outlines the steps to launch AirServer on the classroom computer and "cast" content from your wireless device. Launching AirServer on a Teaching Station Computer: While AirServer is an excellent and easy-to-use solution for wireless screen sharing, its network discovery function can negatively impact the performance of Endicott's wireless networks while not in use. To ensure that all students and faculty have the best possible wireless experience in their classrooms, you must manually launch the AirServer application on the Teaching Station computer before it becomes available as a screen casting destination. To launch the AirServer application, locate the following icon on the desktop of the Teaching Station computer and double-click to launch: AirServer will remain active on the computer until the next restart -- if you use the same classroom to teach multiple classes or class sections, you will only have to launch AirServer once. You can confirm the status of AirServer by double-clicking the desktop icon again or checking for the following icon in the Windows system tray (lower right-hand corner, by the clock): Casting Content to AirServer from Your Wireless Device: Before sharing content from your macOS/iOS device or Chrome Browser to AirServer, ensure that your device is connected to one of Endicott's internal wireless networks. You will not be able to cast content if you are connected to EndicottGUEST or a cellular/personal hotspot network. Endicott's current internal networks are: EndicottWIFI EndicottDEVICE If your device is not connected to one of these two networks, please reference the following Freshservice article to find the appropriate instructions for your device: Connecting to Wireless Networks at Endicott College Once connected to the proper network, please refer to the device-specific instructions below to start casting your content: Casting Screen Content from an iOS device: Open Control Center on your iOS device -- on most iOS devices, you will need to swipe down from the top or top right-hand corner of the screen. Tap the AirPlay Mirroring icon to open a list of AirPlay-compatible displays Select the desired display from the list based on the building and room number of your current classroom. Due to the nature of AirPlay discovery, it may take several seconds for your desired display to appear. Casting Screen Content from a Chrome Browser: Click the 3 vertical dots located in the upper right corner of the Chrome window Select Cast from the menu Select the desired display from the list based on the building and room number of your current classroom. Due to the nature of Chromecast discovery, it may take several seconds for your desired display to appear. To stop casting your screen contents, click on the logo and select Stop Casting.
