Pushbutton Classroom Controls (User Guide)
The means of operation for standard, permanently installed classroom AV systems are very similar to each other. This document will NOT address AV carts, Conference Rooms or Specialty classrooms that have touch screen control panels. A guide for touch screen control panels in classrooms can be found using the link below: https://endicott.freshservice.com/a/solutions/articles/10000092406 The majority of permanent classrooms use the control panel depicted below on the left. Classrooms in the Wax Academic Center are equipped with the control panel depicted below on the right. ALL classroom push button control panels follow the same basic layout. Display on/off controls are located in the upper left of the panel, audio volume controls are in the lower left and the input selection buttons well as video mute control are to the right. All control panels of the same physical type will follow the same button arrangement Display ON and OFF buttons: In the upper left-hand corner of the control panel. When either the On or Off button is blinking slowly, that indicates that the main display is in the process of turning on or off. Depending on the make/model/age of the display, the blinking will last for between 15 and 60 seconds. While the On or Off button is blinking, the panel is locked out to prevent conflicting commands. Volume Control On the older model control panel, you will find a knob accompanied with a line of LEDs to act as a volume indicator. Turning the knob clockwise will increase the volume and turning it counter-clockwise will decrease the volume. The knob does not have a stopper in it, this means that the knob will continue to spin even if the system is at 0% or 100% volume. On the newer control panel, pressing and holding the VOL UP and VOL DOWN buttons will act like turning the knob or a series of presses and releases will adjust the system volume. On this panel, the system volume indication LEDs are located above the volume buttons. Input Options: On the right-hand side of all control panels, you will find the input options available in that space. For all standard classrooms using each respective model of control panel shown above, the buttons are always in the same order. The input that is selected in the system to be shown on the room's main display will be illuminated brighter than other buttons. Video Mute When the Video Mute is engaged: Only video going to the room's main display will be stopped. Screen sharing via Zoom will still be visible to attendees of the meeting and/or the recording. The Video Mute does not impact room audio, Webcam content or the USB microphone in any way. The video mute for all classrooms is set with a 5 minute timer that will automatically turn the mute off 5 minutes after the last time the control panel was touched. This is because when the video mute is engaged, it is sometimes difficult to tell if the projector is on or off. In past years, the projector mutes were engaged and often forgotten about. If when you press a button and all buttons on the control panel blink red, please call AV at 978-232-215. This issue can be resolved over the phone.

VPAC Rose Theater AV (User Guide)
The Rose Theater in the Center for the Arts is a highly customized space due to the variety of events that are possible in the space. It is for this reason along with other design conditions that cause this room to have a specific set of instructions. If your class uses the Rose Theater Stage for your class sessions, several points of this document will not apply to you. Please contact the Center for the Arts staff for specific information. If you are using the traditional lecture style side of the Rose Theater, please follow the steps below the map: Getting the room ready Turn on the Lights: Upon entering the Rose Theater from the main lobby of the Center for the Arts, stop when you find the door labeled Control Room. On the wall to the right of the Control Room's door, you will find a box mounted to the wall, there is only 1 button in the box. Pressing this button with turn the audience lights of the auditorium on and off. Stage lights require specific training and prior approval to gain access to those controls. If you believe that you need access to the theater lighting controls, please contact the Center for the Arts for more details. Close the curtain (optional): *** DO NOT ADJUST THE CURTAIN IF THE PROJECTOR SCREEN IS DOWN *** If the curtain is open and you would prefer that the curtain be closed (or vice versa), be sure that the projector screen is fully rolled up before adjusting the curtain in any way (See below). The curtain and the screen are very close together and if the screen is down, the curtain can catch on the screen and cause significant costly damage to both systems. To operate the curtain, go to the back stage area noted in the map above and you will find several components bolted into the stage. The smaller pull containing black rope is the component that you are looking for. The rope in this pulley is a loop, pulling the rope closest to the center of the stage downwards will close the curtain and pulling the rope closet to the control panel downwards will open the curtain. Projector Screen: Before operating the projector screen control, confirm that the curtain is in the desired position. The projector screen must be fully rolled up before operating the curtain. To put the Projector Screen up and down, go to the backstage location noted in the map above. See the picture below. The projector screen control switch has 3 positions, UP, Down and Neutral. When the motor is not in use, please be sure to return the switch to the Neutral position. AV Controls: The AV control panel is located backstage between the Projector Screen switch and the double cargo doors (See Map Above). The control panel is built into a 3 foot cube that is bolted to the wall. Touch the screen to wake the screen up. You will need to press the screen a second time to begin the system startup process. You will be presented with the mains start screen. Pressing the button in the center of the screen will activate the core of the system including audio control but not the LCD projector. Rose Theater Control Welcome Screen Rose Theater Startup Pop-up Once the system has activated, the Main Control Page will be shown. The Main Control Page is divided into four main zones. Zone 1 - Along the top of the panel is the Input Bus that lists all available input ports in the system. Zone 2 - Along the right side of the control panel is the Volume Bus, in this area, you can control the computer volume and combined microphone volume. Controlling individual audio sources is possible but requires a technician to be on hand for the event. Zone 3 - The left side of the control panel is home to the Control Bus, it is here that you can control the LCD projector itself, video mute, enter the Lecture Capture System's controls, and start/stop sending live content to the Lobby TV. Zone 4 - In the center of the control panel, you have the Menu Section. This part of the control panel will change depending on what part of the system you are controlling. For most general usage cases, the Menu Section of the control panel will be empty. Rose Theater Control Panel Zones Rose Theater Main Control Page As noted above, the room's LCD Projector does not activate because many events in this space do not need the projector. On the left side of the control panel, yo will find the Projector heading with an ON button. Pressing this button will turn the projector on. Rose Theater Input Bus The control bus can be used to power the projector on and off. Be sure to give the projector a bit of time before powering on because it may take up to a minute to fully boot up. The "mute" button can be toggled to temporarily make the projector show only a black image which can be a faster alternative to powering the projector on or off in instances where it might be useful to not display what is on the computer in use. Rose Theater Control Bus Volume Bus The volume of the microphones and the computer can be controlled through the Volume Bus by pressing the arrows to the right of the level bar. Pressing "mute" will also cause the audio to silence completely. Pressing the button again will release the mute. Rose Theater Volume Bus Lecture Capture The Rose Theater comes equipped with the Lecture Capture system, which allows for the recording or livestreaming of events. This can be activated by pressing the "lecture capture" button. Once it is pressed a sub-menu will be opened with the following options. Video Setup Side by Side - Arranges for both the content displayed on the projector as well as the camera in the room to show up side by side in the recording Just the Camera - Arranges for only the video from the camera in the room to be shown in the recording. Just the Computer - Arranges for only the content displayed on the projector to be recorded. Audio from the room will still be recorded. Record - Indicated by the circular icon, initiates the start of the recording Mark - Used to place "marks" in a recording such as chapter markers, useful if someone is going to be editing a recording afterwards Stop - Indicated by the square-shaped icon, stops the recording currently in progress PTZ Control - Opens a sub-menu which allows for manual control of the PTZ (Pan, tilt, zoom) camera; see PTZ camera controls for explanations for Rose Theater Lecture Capture System (LCS) PTZ Controls Camera Presets - The three buttons to the left side of the menu allow for the camera to automatically orient to one of three preset shots indicated by the names on the buttons: Lectern Stage Right, Center Stage and Full Stage. It is generally recommended that these presets be used for most recordings as trying to manually adjust the camera is less responsive due to input delay Zoom - These two buttons in the center of the menu allow the camera to be zoomed in and out for a tighter or wider shot Pan and Tilt - These four buttons on the right side of the menu allow for the camera to be panned (left & right) or tilted (up & down) at will Rose Theater Pan/Tilt/Zoom Control (PTZ) Once the Audio Mode is selected, the next page will automatically display the source selection list. The only input that is operable for class usage is labeled Stage. All other options shown are related to the Control Room Mixer Mode. Press the Audio Control button on the right-hand side of the screen. From the new page, you have the ability to un-mute the lectern microphone to help those seated in the back of the room to hear the professor. At this point it is also advisable to check if Comp Mute (short for Computer Audio Mute) is shown with red or white text. If the text is red, the computer audio is Muted. You will only need to press the button to toggle between muted and un-muted. The final step of preparation is to turn the main projector on. On the left-hand side of the control panel, press the Proj Control button. This will present a page of PROJ ON and PROJ OFF. Stage Lectern In January 2021, the lectern for this space was replaced with a different option in order to allow for more input options and improve reliability. Because of the increased number of inputs, it is important to note what input you wish you show on the projector vs what input the system has been told to show. In the lectern, there is an equipment rack housing several devices. One of the devices is the AV selection switch for all of the inputs available at the lectern. The AV switch (pictured below) has printed labels . Each of the 6 input ports on this box (labeled for buttons 1 through 6 noted below the picture), can be selected at any time by pressing the button on the front of the AV switch. The port that is selected has its button illuminated with an orange light. Only one input can be selected at a time. Inputs at the Lectern: 1 - VGA and audio 2 - A BluTooth Audio receiver for dance classes. 3 - Mini DisplayPort 4 - USB-C 5 - HDMI (With Green tape wrapped around the cable) 6 - HDMI (With Blue tape wrapped around the cable) Below the AV switch is a smaller box that is used for other requirements of the space. There are buttons on the front of that smaller box but they are disabled. This box can be ignored unless technical support asks about it specifically. Shutting the system down at the end of class At the end of class, and if you are unsure if the next class period's professor will need the AV system, please proceed backstage to the projector screen control switch and put it into the up position. While the projector screen is rolling up, go to the control panel, find and press the System Off button in the lower left corner of the screen. Once the System Off button has been pressed, a confirmation screen will be displayed. To shut the system down, press the button Turn Off. Rose Theater Shutdown Confirmation Within moments, the projector screen will have completed putting itself away. Once the motor stops, please put the switch to Neutral. Please exit the Rose Theater through the audience seating area and press the lighting control button located in the small hallways before you reach the lobby. This concludes the Rose Theater activation and shutdown instructions.

Team Room Teaching Stations: User Guide
This document will cover the standard operation of the Team Room Classroom design. There are 3 classrooms on campus that are of this design and though the control panel color pallets may be different, the operation of all three systems are identical. The three Team Rooms are Wax 331, Gerrish 247 and Gerrish 347. When you approach the teaching station, the control panel screen will automatically light up if not already active. On the Welcome Screen, you are presented with 3 activation options. Press the button that reflect how you want to use the system. The panel will beep to indicate that the button press has been detected. When you hear a beep, you can remove your finger from the panel. You will have the ability to change your mind without turning the system off. All Displays On - Full system activation. Both projectors and all 8 TVs will be turned on. LCD Projectors Only - This option will only activate the LCD projectors and lower their respective screens. Be advised, that due to the layout of the room, not every student seat will have an unobstructed view of a projector screen. Team TVs Only - This option will only activate the team TVs around the room Team Room Welcome Screen As the system turns on, the Welcome Screen will be replaced with a Startup Screen. This screen is linked to the control computer and will prevent changes until all of the selected devices report as ready. In most cases, this screen will be displayed for less than a minute. Team Room Startup Screen Once the system is ready to use, the Startup Screen will be removed from view to showing the Main Page. It is from this page that all options from the room are applied. From this page you can: - Select an input to show on the projectors and/or team TVs - Select the destination of the input - Turn Team Mode on and off - Adjust Volume of the room speakers - Turn individual projectors on and off - Mute the video going to each projector - Mute the video going to the Team displays - System shutdown process Team Room Main Page The process of changing what input is being displayed on any of the room displays has two steps. This process can be repeated at any time while the system is active to change what is displayed. Step 1 - Select the Source from the uppermost part of the control panel Main Page. Only 1 Source can be selected at a time. Once a Source button has pressed, a Destination panel will be shown in the center of the Main Page. The System Input Menu Step 2 - Select the destination. From the Destination panel now shown on screen, select the display group that you want the Source to be displayed by. The only Destination options for this space are Main Screens and Team Displays. The room's system was specifically designed to have the projectors act as 1 unit and the Team Displays to act as one when not in Team Mode. After selecting the input, select the destination. What is Team Mode? Team Mode is a setting for the Team Room AV System that sets each team's TV to show the local input from a laptop connected to the team table. This mode allows all Teams to work independently of each other. When Team Mode is off, all team table TVs act as one and will show the same content when directed to do so by the person running the control panel. Display Mute for Team Displays: Display Mute under the Team Displays header will mute all video going to the Team TVs. This will not impact the Projectors in any way. To turn the video mute for the projectors on and off, you will need to press the Mute for each projector on the left side of the control panel. Shutting the system off is a two step process. Step 1 is to press and release the red System Off button in the lower right of the control panel. Step 2 is to press the green Power Down button that is shown in the center of the screen. This extra button is a confirmation in case a user accidentally hits the System Off button noted in step 1. If you see the confirmation page on the control panel but want the system to stay on, press the Cancel button.

Booth USB-C - This connection port is built into the AV access panel in the control area of the lecture hall. This port does NOT provide power to the computer. Lecture Capture - This menu allows for controlling the room's built-in Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) camera to capture activities on stage as well as designating the layout of the overflow/stream/recording video. Do Not use this option for class sessions. This system does not interact with Zoom. Proj Mute - This controls the image blackout option of the main display. Activating this will also stop the computer content feed to the Lecture Capture System. The projector will stay active if it is already on. The use of this button has no impact on the projector screen. Proj Control - This menu allows for mid-event changes of the projector and screen without turning the overall system on or off. Projector ON / OFF functions and projector screen UP / DOWN are handled separately. Mute Delays - The sound system for this room was designed with the need to cut back audio so that events in the Cleary Lecture Hall do not disrupt different events in the Seminar Suites. By engaging this option, the ceiling hung speakers aimed at the back seating areas will be turned off. Right Side of the Main Page: Program - This group of buttons allows you to control the computer audio content going to the room's PA system, Lecture Capture System, and overflow spaces. Microphone - This group of buttons allows you to control all microphone inputs in the room. All microphones are controlled together proportionally from this control. System Off - This button will give the option to power the system down, including the projector and all microphones. The below prompt will be displayed to prevent accidental powering down. Troubleshooting: If the lectern PC laptop does not automatically wake up, tap the spacebar. If this does not wake it up, there is a power button on the right side of the computer screen. For audio/video issues, check that none of the mute buttons are lit on the touch panel. If they are lit, that indicates mute is on. Testing the sound of the computer as well as the Internet connection can be done by playing a video on YouTube. If the sound seems low, first check the computer volume (speaker icon on the bottom right of the Desktop on the computer). If it appears to be at a good volume (50-75%), then use the buttons on the touch panel on the lectern to adjust the level going to the system.

Gully's PA
Powering On the System The Gully's Bar has a built-in speaker system can be found in the cabinets behind the bar and between the two wall mounted TVs. The cabinet doors are made of slats and have no locks. To turn the system on, open the cabinet locate the main power switch, which is a red switch located at the bottom of the rack and labeled "main power". When the switch is in the "on" position it should light up. Next, ensure that the power switch on the mixer is turned on. This is also labeled "Power" Next to the mixer's power are the audio levels for the different "zones" of Gully's. Turn the knobs up slowly to about the 10 o'clock position. The system is now powered on and active. Using the House Mic The audio system has the ability to mix together a built-in microphone, the RockBot music player, audio from an HDMI input cable. The system also has the ability to play the mixed audio through speakers in the Bar area, the Lounge area, and outside speakers. The volume of those three areas can be adjusted without impacting the other areas. The house microphone should be located in the drawer below the main power switch. When you need to use it, remove it from the drawer and turn it on with the switch located on the side of the microphone. The small screen above the switch should light up briefly. If it does not power on, verify that there are batteries with charge inside of the mic and replace as needed. To test the mic, hold it up to your mouth and speak at a normal speaking volume while slowly turning up the knob labeled "House Mic" on the mixer. The most comfortable level is going to vary depending on who is speaking, the number of people in the room, and whether or not there is any background music playing. The most important thing to avoid is letting the volume "peak" which is indicated when the red light above the volume knob lights up, as this can cause audio distortion and possibly damage the speakers. At the end of your event, please be sure to power down the mic and return it to its drawer. Using the Rock Bot The Rock Bot is a system for playing music through the sound system. It is automatically powered up as long as there is power to the PA, so all you should need to do is raise the volume knob labeled "Rock Bot" to a comfortable level. Note that the system automatically stops playing music at 11 pm. The overall PA system remains operational. HDMI In There is a single HDMI input cable located at the equipment rack that feeds into an HAE100 audio de-imbedder. The audio output of the HAE100 goes into mixer port 4. The video output of the HAE is fed into the wall mounted TV that is above and to the left of the equipment rack.
